Vaujany offers a huge variety of activities in the summer. There’s extensive hiking from the easy and flat to the near vertical and a gravity defying Via Ferrata with pretty much everything in between. The main lifts operate during the summer so you can access the higher peaks and walk down, or walk up and take the lift down. Wherever you go, breath-taking views are a fixture.
There are a variety of marked world-class mountain biking trails and as with skiing these are designed to cater for beginners to experts with everything in between. And if you’re not sure this is for you, you can hire bikes and safety equipment at shops in the village. For road cyclists, this is Tour de France country with easy access to some of the legendary stages from the race including the 21 Hairpins of Alpe d’Huez as well as the Col du Glandon and the Col de la Croix de Fer. One of the best information sources for all cycling in the region is Bike Oisans.
Vaujany has its own tennis club with four concrete courts that are free for all to use. The same area has a climbing wall, frisbee golf, archery, pony trekking and a mountain bike course to learn the necessary skills for taking to the slopes. And if you need to relax between all this, there’s also a bar.
For water sports fans the lake down at Allemont has wind surfing, kayaking, paddle boards pedalloes. Nature fans can go wildlife spotting with marmots, chamois and birds of prey all in the vicinity for the, ahem, eagle-eyed among you.
Alternatively you can simply relax on our balconies and take in the breathtaking mountain scenery or go down to the Espace Loisirs. Here there’s a huge indoor swimming pool that’s open all year round with sun loungers and a fully kitted out gym. There’s also bowling and an Olympic size skating rink that is the perfect place to hone your skills on ice.
The tourist office organises a busy schedule of events and activities each week during the summer season, including guided walks, boules tournaments, kids activities, concerts, cultural exhibitions, talks, and a weekly market. Each year the village plays host to a Cani-cross race, a Scrabble championship, and a vintage car rally.
